Salts are ionic compounds, resulting from a neutralization reaction of an acid and a base. When the combination of plants & salt is heard, people often think about the damage salts are able to do. Despite the fact salt can harm a plant’s growth, salt can also be used to aid in the development of the plant. When used in combination with vitamins for example, they can provide a healthy and nutritious medium that enhances the plant’s growth. The only danger this can provide, is that if the salts are not properly combined they can damage the plant. Therefore, salts and their effect have to be properly examined before adding them into the medium.
