Autoclaves, similar to media preparators, are used to perform sterilization. Autoclaves are more commonly used for quick sterilization, because they take a shorter amount of time to heat up and are specifically made for the sterilization of entities such as glass, liquids, plastic, metal, etc. The downside of using an autoclave in comparison to media preparators is the fact that media preparators provide a stable temperature throughout their vessels, whereas an autoclave struggles to maintain its temperature constant and at the same level throughout the vessel.
